Black Bear Pub, Nanaimo

Well, Nanaimo if you have never been here, you are in for a treat. The view/ambience is breathtaking and the food…. Well, yesterday we sat next to a table of 4 ladies. The food they had on their plates made me ask our server what it all was. The portions are more than generous and it looked delicious.

They had fish tacos (3) and huge, pulled pork sandwich would feed 2,, taco salad (huge) would feed 4 for sure, salmon burger.

We checked everything out and decided to order ‘sharable’ appetizers for both of us. Don order the Schnitzel (2 large pieces, fries and vegetables). I decided to take a chance and ordered the Mac and Cheese. I have ordered it from time to time anywhere we have been and always ended up with something you didn’t want to eat. This, on the other hand, has made converts of both of us. WOW! it is and was delicious. It was so large we boxed it up and shared it for supper and, guess what? we will be having the balance of it for lunch today as well as the remainder of the Schnitzel.

Give it a go….it really is a super place to dine…on the deck…in the sunshine….yup, we will be back.

Joey’s Only – Penticton, BC

It doesn ‘t matter how many times you visit a restaurant (especially when they don’t remember you) and you find consistency….you have to comment.  http://joeys.ca/location/britishcolumbia/penticton.html

We went to Joey’s Only yesterday for lunch.  The restaurant is always clean, Rita, our server, is always polite, friendly and observant. Dan, the owner, is always  cleaning tables, seating customers, chatting them up.  It almost has a “at home’ feeling.  Hard to find in any restaurant.

After checking over the menu….don’t we always? Don’t we always order the same thing?…of course. When you find perfection you don’t want to change it.

The food came out fast, piping hot and super delicious.  The batter on the fish is so light and crisp yet the fish is nice and moist.  The coleslaw is super (I love it because it doesn’t have onions in it).

Once again, consistentcy reigns supreme and we had a most enjoyable lunch.  Thanks Dan and Staff.

Note: When we first arrived there were only a few tables with customers, by the time we left…it was almost 100 per cent full.  Lesson to be learned…go just before Noon and you won’t have to wait….just sayin’
