For our 21st Anniversary, we drove to Osoyoos (20 minutes away) to dine at The Patio. It was hot (33 degrees) and in to the evening and let me assure you, the view is beyond breathtaking. The Patio is at the edge of the mountain and the view encompasses the lake, vineyards, and orchards as far as the eye can see. http://www.nkmipcellars.com/The-Winery#patio
Some of the tables are on the grass and the remainder on the ‘patio’, but everyone has a 180 degree view.
Our server, Lorene, was truly delightful. She never missed a beat. The Cellar is offering a weekend (3 days) to eat, sample wine and stay at the resort and she explained this to us.
Don ordered the Smoked Salmon on a bagel with a herbed cream cheese, red onion slices and a bit of greens to start and I ordered the Tomato/Chardonnay Soup. Believe me, we didn’t leave anything on the plate.
The entree for Don was the Venison Meatballs with baked Polenta, baby carrots, green beans and grilled zucchini. He really enjoyed it saying the meatballs were tender and not dry.
My entree was the free-range Chicken with blue potato salad and almonds. Now this surprised me….I didn’t know it was a salad (cold) and when I put a potato in my mouth, it was cold. This was a delightful meal. The chicken was pure perfection and the baby blue potatoes with green beans and almonds was yummy. I also enjoyed a glass of Pinot Blanc. I am of the opinion, mine of course, that they have some of the best wines in the valley.
Now, of course, dessert. We could hardly move but ordered the dark chocolate pate with our coffee. OMG it simply melted in your mouth.
When Lorene brought us the bill, she also offered to include a bottle of their wines to take home with us. Great marketing.
If you are in the area, please be sure to drop in and enjoy the view, the servers, and of course, the great meal.
