Masthead Restaurant, Cowichan Bay, BC

The other night a few seniors went with Janey (Janey’s Got a Bus) to the Masthead Restaurant.

Wow…this is one fine dining establishment. It is over-looking the water, so, so elegant on the inside and comfortable in ambience.

Our server tonight was Tara and her partner, Mark, was the bartender. Tara is so attentive, but quietly so. She took our drink order, the dinner order and answered everyone’s questions.

Dinner was super. Don had the steelhead Trout dinner, two of us had a bowl of mushroom soup (absolutely THE best mushroom soup from any restaurant I have ever been in) and the warm beet salad. This was delightful. Beautiful in presentation and just enough so you could eat it all. One lady ordered the Fish  and Chips and said it was the best she had ever eaten. The last meal ordered was the evening special. Braised Beef ribs, vegetables, gravy. Trust me.

All meals were well prepared, presented and enjoyed by all.

But we are not yet done. One dessert ordered was a Pumpkin Cheese Cake and Don and I shared the Vanilla Creme Brulee.  Again, if they would let us lick the plate, we probably would have.

This restaurant was new to us but it was so enjoyable. They do know what they are doing.

Driftwood Chinese Buffet, Nanaimo

Last week when we were going to the movies, we decided to try this new restaurant. Only a few months old by the way. We found the food to be really good and fresh so yesterday, we all went for the Lunch Buffet.

The restaurant is very large and it was full. The food is not deep fried food that the other Chinese restaurants seem to prefer, but it is all fresh and darn tasty. We arrived about halfway through the time (11:30 a.m. to @2 p.m). and the bowls were almost all empty.

We have found that this restaurant is the very best for Chinese Food in Nanaimo and trust me, we have tried them all. The seafood is cooked to perfection, just to mention one of their best assets.

Our best advice….go early and dine on all they have to offer. I promise you will return again and again. They also have a Dinner Buffet, if that is what you prefer.

The restaurant is next door to Montana’s
