Fairmont Hotel, Monte Carlo

Our final three days in Europe is staying at the Fairmont Hotel, Monte Carlo. This, my friends is top of the heap in beauty, quality, entertainment, Casino and a 6 million dollar view at breakfast.

The shop windows throughout the Hotel make you stop and you cannot believe what  you are looking at. Shoes that are out of this world and dresses…..WOW!

The cars outside are the world’s most expensive and are all under the eyes of security 24/7.

Word of advice…men are not admitted into the casino if they are not wearing long pants. They will stop you before you put one foot inside the doorway.

This is luxury at its best. The bedrooms are beautiful and ours was in a beautiful soft blue and white with yellow accents. It had a small glass topped desk with a lovely blue and white chair. A large television with choices in English that was a real treat. You can select any language they have on the screen and get to watch what you want, when you want.

Breakfast is on the 7th floor and the view……there aren’t enough words to describe that view….it is beyond stunning.

There is one thing that to me, is a drawback. It costs 19 euros per day for wi fi and, there is no place to set up your suitcase. Nothing! To me, in such a high end hotel, there would be.

On the positive side….they had an iron and ironing board. Yup! They did.

It is a wonderful hotel and if you can, you should try and stay here!

Imperator Hotel, Nimes, France

This is a very old Hotel but a classy one. This is where Hemingway stayed (a lot)plus a lot of other celebs, but you haven’t lived until you use either the elevator or the room key.  Both are from the late 1800’s I think.

The elevator has an open grate door (which must be closed tight or the elevator will stay stuck on that floor, then you push two heavy metal doors that look like shutters. Push the floor number and when it arrives at the designated floor, you have to wait until a voice tells you to leave. Now, get ready for the next step.

You get out the skeleton key (I told you it was old) and read the instructions on how this all works.

The rooms are air conditioned and quite nice. Our room has a king size bed, desk, dresser and small table to enjoy a coffee or read a book.

The bathroom is fairly modern: large tub glass section partition, sink and W.C.

This is our second time here. We were here about four -five years ago. I like the old charm.
