Oceana Restaurant, New Orleans

We were a bit slower this morning after such a busy day yesterday, but did manage to get back to  the French Quarter to the Oceana Restaurant for lunch. We were here a couple of years back with Kelly and Trevor, and had to try it again. We asked for the Courtyard, but it was under construction she said, although the tables were all set for meals.

We started with Crab cakes and they were the best we have had with a shrimp/mushroom gravy that was so good I thought one could bathe in it.

I ordered my favourite  Catfish Po’ Boy sandwich. This could have fed 4 people. We brought some home ‘just in case’. It was perfect.

Don ordered the restaurant ‘favourite’ meal of red fish with the same shrimp/mushroom gravy, along with garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens. He felt the fish was really dry and lacked seasoning.

All was not lost however, we ordered the Creme Brulee (what else?) and it had the best topping we have had. Perfect meal, (almost) now on to the rest of a perfect day.
