We have breakfast with the group and they go for a walking tour. Don and I will meet up with them at 1:00 p.m.
We meet everyone at 1 p.m. before we make the adventure of the day. Before that, we went with Lucille so she could do some shopping for herself.
We board a water taxi (our private one) and take a ride to the Island of Murano. Here we got a demonstration of glass blowing and then we enter the showroom. Now our minds and eyes were blown away. OMG!
What a sight…large, small, statues, bowls, jewellery, glasses, chandeliers, on and on. It took a while before we could make a decision….but we did.
Now we board another water taxi (the only way to go) and after a 40 minute ride and a promise of a sumptuous lunch, we arrive on the island of Burano. We dine at the Black Cat Restaurant and it does not disappoint. Risotto, pasta with tomatoes followed by a fresh salad and tempura fried white fish, calamari and shrimp is truly heavenly. Dessert was strips of almond brittle and a special ‘s’ shaped cookie that is made at this restaurant but sold all over the island.
Finished? Not a chance, now we take a walk around and, of course, all the shops are open. The lace and cloths are famous here and, of course, we were not disappointed. Darn!
Back on the water taxi and 40 minutes later, we arrive back at the hotel. Tired? we are exhausted..
Tomorrow, we are off and running early – Rome. Again, pinch me because the mind and eyes cannot take it all in and to try and keep it fresh it has to be written as soon as possible.
