Ora Restaurant – Kelowna. BC

We had a terrible experience for breakfast, but after my Dr.’s appointment, it was now lunch time….We decided to try ORA http://www.orakitchen.ca/. WOW!

This establishment has been open for less than a year but good gracious, it must be the secret of the Okanagan. You have to enter the door to appreciate the sexiness of the decor.  We opted to try the outside patio as the day was weather-perfect.

Our server, Lisa, was amazing: friendly without overdoing it, very knowledgeable on the flavours and tastes of the various items on the menu. You can tell when the staff are tasting the product before telling the customer what to expect.

Don ordered a green pea and ham soup along with a pile of scrumptious artichoke crostinis with baked brie stuffed with roasted garlic, caramelized shallots and topped with (looked like) roasted  tomatoes.

Lisa told us it would leave him with serious garlic breath but that it would be worth it.  She was right! I, of course, had to sample….either that or die in the car. We had a two hour drive ahead.

I, being not so brave, ordered the portabello burger with yam fries. Okay, okay, I did try about 7 of those addictive fries. HONEST! The burger was super awsome. It was huge and filled with so many goodies such as mushroom butternut squash ristotto with aged cheddar and veggies.

To help us out, we ordered a chocolate mousse (one scoop) with a dash of creme fraiche and raspberry coulis on each side. Oh my, oh my….was that ever good.

Price was $$ for two and worth it for sure.  Don’t let this one go by the way side….far too good for that. Go and give it a try-you won’t be sorry.
