Talons Restaurant, Osoyoos

On the weekend, we had special company visiting us and they wanted to take us out for dinner. We gave them a selection of winery restaurants and, due to the culture environment at Spirit Ridge Resort, they chose Talons. http://spiritridge.ca/dining/ I found out they do not take reservations between 7 – 8 p.m. as I was told that was when everyone wanted to dine, so it was first come-first served. We reserved for 6:30 p.m. and all was lovely. The restaurant is bright, clean, lively and a wait-staff that are on the ball.

We ordered our wine and then out meal. When it came (and this will show you just how astute the staff is), our friend kept looking at an item on the plate. We suggested what it might be, but …….another server in the restaurant rushed over and asked if anything was wrong. We told him what it was and he assured one and all it was a certain vegetable and all was well.

The meal was terrific…two of us ordered the crispy chicken and the two men each ordered something different. All agreed it was great. Then we had two desserts and all was shared. OMG! Was this good.

I again, would recommend this restaurant to one and all. Great food, great ambience, great staff.

    Hi there Bonnie!
I have to thank you for this review of Talon at Spirit Ridge. We had a less than stellar meal there in our first week….let’s just call it “Ahi Tuna gate”. Based on your review (I check your blog regularly) we decided to try again. We have loved the previous incarnations of Talon… Mica, The Restaurant and others. We did not want to leave with this one food and service blip in our minds. Our second try was superb! I had the crispy chicken on your recommendation and it was divine. My hubby had the pasta special and my daughter had the fish tacos (4 as a main meal) with a side of yam fries. The yam fries were the best I have ever had. The service was attentive and excellent. We finished with a chocolate dessert between the 3 of us and needless to say it was gone in a flash! Boy am I glad I read your blog before we left our beloved Spirit Ridge. I can’t wait to try it again in the fall.
Thanks Bonnie and I look forward to the next review!

Delighted to hear from you Brenda and that the review helped change the ‘less than stellar’ taste for you and your family. Hope we get to meet again.

We went here tonight for our 5th wedding anniversary and left laughing but not cause it was so awesome but cause we had to drink enough wine to make everything else not so horrible! The waitress knew nothing about anything on the menu. Drinks took forever………………. Started with beef carpaccio appie…..we both thought our one fork full was alright. Husband wanted steak but they don’t offer that so he ordered some kind of pasta cause he could apparently order a steak on top of it??? Came with about 4 fork fulls worth of pasta some mushrooms and and baseball size round ball of goat cheese on top with about 5 pieces of cut up beef. I ordered seafood stew which was more like little seafood chunks out of the freezer in vegetable broth with NO flavour and missing the potatoes (which maybe would have actually made it a thick stew:/) all in all our waitress was nice the view was amazing and the food …… I wouldn’t have even fed to my dog:(
