Nautical Nellies, Victoria, B.C.

It was suggested to us to try this establishment for dinner. We took them up on it and it was pretty good. Don’t ever let anyone tell you people don’t go out for dinners anymore. It was packed on a Wednesday night. Easy to find, on Wharf Street, close to the Inner Harbour.

Don ordered the Seafood Hot Pot. It was huge and all kinds of seafood in it. Big pieces not some chopped up mini “guess what it is” food. He absolutely loved it. An O’Doull’s was a good pairing.

I ordered the Scallop Dinner.  Our server, Terri, suggested I choose this one dinner over another as the scallops were a bit larger in size. It comes in a round flat-bottom bowl with the scallops around the outer edge. It had a great almost succotash in the center of the bowl. It was delicious. I have to mention, however, if you want large scallops, just ask my husband to prepare them. Just sayin’. I enjoyed a glass of chilled Pinot Gris. It was a good choice.

We could not leave without a dessert and, of course, it had to be the Crème Brulee. We have had this dessert all across Europe and everywhere in between.

Joey’s Only, Penticton, B.C.

We haven’t been here for awhile, but we both had a craving for some REAL Fish and Chips and, yes, we do know where to go for this. http://joeys.ca/index.html

When we arrived,  it was quite busy and it is fun, when Dan (owner) looks at you and isn’t sure who you are, but seats you with the same friendly, warm flair they offer here.

Our server, (looked new to us) was very good, brought our food quickly and throughout, was  attentive seeing that we were  enjoying the food, more coffee needed or did we need anything?

We wanted to split our order as it is always ample, but added an extra piece of fish. Sooooooo worth it! The batter is so light, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and I love their coleslaw.

When we were leaving and I was using the machine to pay, I added the tip and it went through. Then, and here is why we love Dan so much, honesty to the core. He looked up at me and asked if I really meant to have that kind of a tip? When I looked at the receipt it showed approximatly 125 percent more than I thought I had pressed. He gave me back the difference and we were on our way. By the way, he did a double take on my name and goes “oh yeah”….love it!

Love this restaurant, the owner, staff and of course, the food. Price $$
