Il Terrazzo Restaurant, Victoria, B.C.

We ate here last Monday evening and I sincerely apologize for taking so long to review it, but truth be known, a lot of life has happened this week. So – here we go.

We asked the Hotel to make reservations for us and, being a Monday, figured we would be a shoo in. When we arrived, there was a line up to get in and everyone had a reservation. Again, this was Monday evening at 6 p.m.

We perused the wine list…read that to be a book. It had wines from around the world, listed alphabetically by country and then by White/Red/Sparkling so with a little help from our server , I did pick one and Don ordered his drink. Now we have to decide what we want for dinner and it was a little difficult but I ordered Linguine Marco Polo and Don ordered Linguine con Frutti di Mare.

The Marco Polo dish was noodles mixed with chicken breasts, toasted cashews, mango, fresh basil, pimentos in a creamy lemon sauce. Without a lie this is and was the best Italian food I have ever consumed. I would have stayed there all night just to finish it.

Don’s meal was noodles, prawns, mussels, scallops, tomatoes, garlic, chili flakes, leeks, white wine and parsley. He, as well, proclaimed it t be the best he has ever had.

Did we quit there? Not a chance. We noticed they had Creme Brulee and we ordered one with two spoons. To add insult to injury, my husband thoughtfully ordered me a Monte Cristo coffee as it was Father’s Day and that was one special treat my Pop and I would order it every Christmas Eve. I toasted my Pop and thanked my ever so thoughtful husband.

If you go to Victoria, make this a must stop.

A Visit To Parksville

On Sunday, after Church and a light lunch (that is another story) Don decided to take a drive to Parksville to sightsee. We had never been there and the drive is very beautiful. We stopped off and played a game of Mini Golf (it had been years) and this one is the most interesting and challenging game designs that I have ever played. It was a lot of fun and on a beautiful sunny afternoon, it couldn’t be better.

Now, it is time for lunch. Where to go? We drove down the highway for a bit and nothing came to mind but Don said, let’s try to find a Pub as they always have good food. I tried to google it and found 3 listed. One was about 40 km from where we were and the other? HAHAHA It was 150 ft ahead of us.  It is the RJ Rod & Gun Hospitality .

We went in and it is huge. They have one of the longest bars and it looks like a Saloon of old in the middle of a large room. I thought this was the entire restaurant but it is not.  They have an dining room on the other side of this and then, again, you go outside to a patio area. For those who smoke, there is an ‘upper deck’ just for that purpose. Grab a beer and away you go.

Our server, Chelsii was delightful and very helpful. She talked about the City, beaches and how wonderful it was to live here. We found the prices for food is a lot less expensive here than, say a larger City.

Don ordered the Bangers and Mash and I ordered the ‘Loaded Local’. A burger that had beef, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, lettuce and a pickle. Whew! Don like the Bangers and Mash and his beer. Because they had only one brand of wine (one I won’t consume) I ordered a Michelobe Ultra Beer. I find it even better than Coors Light and that used to be the only beer I would ever try, if I had to.  We spent a most enjoyable time in this establishment and I can honestly say, we will be back.

Back home we go and, again, it is a wonderful drive and we have so much more to peruse here on the Island.
