Bittersweet Days Now

Well, after almost a month in our paradise on earth, we are getting close to returning home. It is a little sad but also setting our minds to be going home is difficult. I have already packed one suitcase and always looking around the apartment to keep in mind what NOT to leave behind.

We shared the first ten days with Don’s sister and her new husband and did 99.9 % of the island tourist places, and more. We went to Hana and had lunch, we drove everywhere except for the two “no-no roads.

We took them to the swap meet, to Lahaina and ate at Bubba Gumps and shopped; attended the Church in Makena and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with the congregation and other visitors. I don’ t think we missed many shops and they even went whale watching. We ate at Mama’s Fish House, attended the Old Lahaina Luau and also enjoyed some home cooking as well.

For the past two weeks, the two of us have been back to the swap meet a couple more times, ate at a few new restaurants (for us) and have relaxed completely.

We have walked the beach, listened forever to the crashing waves; never missed a setting sun, read a while and also became a little hooked on tennis and thanked God everyday for the opportunity to enjoy all these things.

Yes, it is bittersweet sometimes remembering where we have been, what we have seen, tasted and smelled on this beautiful island of Maui, but our home is calling us to return in another  6 days.
